J.A. Laporte Flowers & Nursery – Operations Update
May 6, 2020 – Following Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s announcement that restrictions have been eased for garden centres and nurseries, staff at J.A. Laporte Flowers & Nursery made the difficult decision to remain closed to the public and continue operating with curbside pick-up service ONLY.
The safety of customers and staff members are the top priority at our family-run business, and we feel strongly that this is the best decision we could make during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the shopping aisles at J.A. Laporte’s are only one metre wide, it would be impossible to properly observe the two-metre social distancing guidelines mandated by Canadian health authorities. Due to the restrictions, reopening the physical store would have meant a disappointing retail experience for customers. Typically, greenhouse shoppers enjoy wandering the nursery for an hour or more while they select their products; this would have been impossible to accommodate with the current restrictions.
Contactless, curbside pick-up service
J.A. Laporte Flowers and Nursery continues to offer online shopping and a contactless, curbside pick-up service, which is safe and efficient. Our online store is:
- easy to navigate
- categorized by plant needs (sun, shade, or partial sun)
- highly reviewed by our customers
- allowing our staff to serve a greater number of customer orders than we could with a physical shopping experience.
We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of our customers. Thank you for your continued patronage; we look forward to continuing to serve you throughout the spring/summer 2020 season.
Sincerely,
The team at J.A. Laporte Flowers & Nursery
